Our Horses
The Icelandic horse is a unique breed with specials like the five gaits. On our farm Brekkulækur live 70 - 80 Icelandic horses. About 20 youngsters (foals and older ones) and the rest are well-trained horses for our riding tours. We don't breed them at our own, we buy the most of them when they are old enough to leave the mare- we grow them up - every summer the young ones graze free in the highlands. When they are in the age of 5 we start to train them. Our horses for the riding tours have to be tireless, powerful, strong and friendly and last but not least the very comfortable gait - the tolt!
Besides we work together with good horse farms in our neighbourhood and they work for us in the summertime with their horses.
